Box Office Representative

REPORTS TO: Box Office Manager, and Assistant Box Office Manager
CLASSIFICATION: Nonexempt Seasonal, Part-Time

SUMMARY:

The Box Office Representative will sell tickets to the general public, both in-person and over the phone. The Box Office Representative will not only process ticket requests but provide general customer service for all aspects of the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. The Box Office Representative position is part-time and seasonal, with flexible season start and ending dates annually from May through September.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following reflects SPAC’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Leadership may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons.

  • Ability to work accurately with attention to detail in a high-volume sales environment.
  • Accountable for cash management and compliance.
  • Operate a cash register, Point-of-Service terminal, computer and/or credit card equipment.
  • Distribute literature to patrons and customers, and answer questions in response to inquiries about shows and events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Box Office Manager, and Assistant Box Office Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1+ years’ related experience for a nonprofit arts organization or customer service and/or retail environment strongly preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to utilize SPAC-provided resources to answer customer queries.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Excellent computer and cash management skills.
  • Consistently arrive for work shift on time to work entire assigned shift, and ready to work with a strong customer-service / professional presentation.
  • Courteous, confident and professional demeanor with customers and co-workers.
  • Knowledge and (or an interest in) our events and programming.
  • Ability to represent SPAC and Live Nation in a positive manner.
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diversity of internal and external stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplacebilingual skills a plus. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information, including but not limited to SPAC policies and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, total purchases, etc.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 30 pounds independently on an occasional to frequent basis with or without assistance.
  • Ability to spend up to 100% of work time standing or moving about all areas of SPAC grounds. Physical activities include but are not limited to bending, stooping, lifting, climbing (including climbing ladders), carrying, walking and/or reaching on a frequent basis.
  • Proper lifting and safety techniques required.
